FOR YOUR HEALTH
Fad diets come and go, but everyone can agree that getting more fruits and vegetables into your diet has a protective effect against cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other illnesses. Take preventative measures by ensuring you get the vitamins, minerals and fibre that are abundantly available in a plant-based diet, instead of filling up on animal products that are often much higher in fat. The growing number of vegan athletes confirm what bulls and stallions have been trying to show us all along; you can grow strong and healthy without a single bite of meat. more
SAVE THE PLANET
AND FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING
Worldwide, animal agriculture exceeds transportation as the leading source of greenhouse gases. Cows produce a great deal of methane, which has over 23 times the global warming power of CO2. At this point in time, there are more pigs than humans on our planet. Nearly half of the water and 80 percent of the agricultural land in North America is used in raising crops for animals for food. Topsoil loss from growing animal feed rivals global warming as a threat to our survival. The world’s fisheries are grossly over-fished and become more depleted every year. You can help the planet and its oceans regain their biodiversity by avoiding meat, dairy, eggs and seafood. It’s an investment in every child’s future. more
COMPASSION FOR ALL
Small family farms are the exception to the rule. In reality, about 97% of animals grown for food in Canada are raised on huge factory farms, where they live unnatural lives of intensive confinement. In the production of eggs, the male chicks are destroyed as they are not profitable. When it comes to dairy products, please consider that these loving mothers are kept pregnant, have their young taken from them at birth, and are kept under much the same conditions as cows raised for meat. All creatures deserve compassion. more
BUILD COMMUNITY
AND SUPPORT SOCIAL JUSTICE
Diversity enriches our population, and what better way to welcome someone than to share a delicious meal! When you set the table with plant-based dishes, everyone can take part, regardless of their cultural or religious beliefs. It’s the most equitable menu out there! There is also a direct connection between the increasing desire for meat and dairy products and the over 900,000,000 people starving worldwide. As more and more land is diverted to growing crops to feed animals it just makes good fiscal sense to feed those resources to humans directly. No one should go hungry. more
