What We Do
Earthsave educates, inspires and empowers people to shift toward a plant based diet centered on fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes - foods that are healthy for people and the planet. We have a large dedicated group of volunteers, including a volunteer Board of Directors, involved in a wide variety of educational and outreach activities geared towards promoting a plant-based diet. We always welcome new volunteers and have volunteer positions to suit all levels of experience.
One of Earthsave's largest activities is the annual Taste of Health Vegetarian Food Fair. Earthsave attends and organizes community events, conventions, trade shows, film festivals, lectures, and seminars in order to disseminate information about our mission and goals. We are constantly working to increase media coverage of the issues surrounding our food choices. Earthsave also develops literature, print materials, and in the past, even videos and a cookbook to provide members and others in the community with the opportunity to learn more about the importance of a plant-based diet. Earthsave has also worked with Vancouver-area schools promoting more healthful food choices in schools.
We maintain a resource library with a wide range of books and videos/DVDs related to our mission for members to borrow. Most of these materials are available to the public for purchase in our bookstore. In addition, Earthsave has regular membership meetings, a readers group, a youth group, potlucks, and dine-out evenings to not only help sustain our community but also to introduce others to the benefits of a plant-based diet.
