Do I need to eat a vegetarian diet to join?

Definitely not. Earthsave accepts you wherever you are on the food-choice continuum. In fact, we prefer to talk about eating a more plant-based diet and not to label anyone "a vegetarian." We provide education, support and encouragement to move TOWARD a plant-based diet. Remember, if everyone reduced their animal-food consumption by just 10 percent, the grain we saved could be used to feed the hungry of the world.

Earthsave understands and respects that individuals make daily food choices due to a number of factors. These factors include social and cultural expectations, convenience, choices prepared in the home or school, mass advertising, peer pressure, and family demands. Earthsave's mission is to provide cutting edge, factual information and allow you to decide what is best for you in your unique circumstance. If you need help as you transition to healthier, plant-based foods, Earthsave is there to provide support and encouragement.

Your membership with Earthsave Canada provides us with the funds to continue operating, and to continue publishing and distributing resources like our Vegetarian Directory for the Greater Vancouver area and our newsletter, the Canada Earthsaver, and to hold events such as our monthly potlucks and most of all, the annual Taste of Health vegetarian food festival! Sustaining Membership

You can also become a monthly sustaining member/donor of Earthsave Canada to spread out the cost of a membership over the year. A Sustaining Membership saves us the time, paper and money involved in renewing annually. This is the best way to help us defray administration costs, allowing more of your money to go towards our programs. Each month, Earthsave will charge a set amount to your bank account to cover membership fees. Individual membership is $3/month, Family membership is $4/month, Student membership is $1/month and Senior membership is $2/month. An additional amount may be added on to apply towards a tax receiptable donation. A sustaining membership has no expiry date; it is in effect until you request otherwise. If you would like to purchase a Sustaining Membership with Earthsave Canada, please fill out the membership form here and send it in with a voided cheque attached.

ALTERNATIVELY, you can download our Membership form, fill it in and send it by fax or mail to Earthsave Canada with a cheque or money order in the appropriate amount.

OR you can call our office at 604-731-5885 and take care of the details and payment over the phone by VISA or MasterCard.

ANOTHER WAY to signup is in person -- visit our office and pay your membership fee by cash, cheque, VISA or MasterCard. You will receive your membership card and package on the spot!
