Leafletting at Critical Mass:

Date: TBA

Time: 4:45-6:00pm

Place: Meet in front of downtown Chapters, 788 Robson Street

Did you know that cars produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions than the meat industry? Let's get the word out!

Meet us in front of Chapters downtown (788 Robson Street) to pick up booklets and debrief on leafletting. At 5 we'll walk to the Art Gallery and hand out hope until the ride leaves at 6! We're going to be handing out leaflets promoting vegetarianism as environmentalism, with a focus on animal agriculture's contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.

Feel free to join the ride afterwards! We're encouraging any veg-friendly slogans on backs/helmets/etc. if you're feeling adventurous! If you just want to drop by for a half hour or hour of leafletting and don't wish to bring your bike, that's also entirely welcome! We're looking for friendly leafletters who are open, optimistic and willing to have a short, non-confrontational chat with any interested cyclists while handing the pamphlets out.

Free Documentary at the Vancouver Public Library:

Date: Saturday, March 6

Time: Doors at 2pm, film starts at 2:30pm, dinner downtown afterwards

Place: Vancouver Public Library, dowtown branch (Alma Vandussen room, lower level)

Fowl Play illuminates the plight of factory-farmed laying hens through interviews with people who are fighting diligently to save them. A story of hope emerges as footage recorded inside battery cage and other facilities is balanced with personal accounts of the individuals working to protect the often-forgotten victims of the egg industry. The suffering that animals face on factory farms won't end until enough people are motivated to change it. Fowl Play connects the dots between consumers and the practices they support, and leaves viewers with a groundbreaking message of personal change and community outreach.

Vegan Potluck with the UBC Veggie Club:

Date: TBA

Time: 5:30-7:30 (We start eating at 6:00pm!)

Place: TBA

Contact: 25andunder@earthsave.ca

Join us for a vegan feast! Please bring a totally vegan dish (approximately enough for 8 people) with an ingredients list, serving utensils and a re-usable plate or tupperware container and utensils (whatever you like to eat with.)

All youth and students (UBC or not!) are welcome - you most certainly do NOT have to be vegan to come - just your dish does.

What exactly is a vegan dish?

A vegan dish consists of food that is made without any animal flesh or animal by-products.  This means no meat (all kinds, including fish and chicken), or dairy (including cow's milk, butter and cheese) or eggs.  Many vegans also avoid honey.  If you are at a loss on what to bring to a potluck, hummus with chips or a fruit salad are both super easy solutions.  Store-bought vegan food is perfectly acceptable.  Check out some online recipe resources at the bottom of this page.
